Our History

The Lunn family has been serving the North Texas area since 1913

That tradition continues today at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Through the

years, the Lunn family has always endeavored to treat our families with the utmost care,

compassion, and respect. Those we serve, come to us in their greatest time of need, and we

always try to live up to the trust placed in us. Starting in 1913 W.N. Lunn, began the first Lunn

Funiture and Undertaking Company in Olney, Texas. W.N Lunn was also a partner with the

Merkel-Lunn Funeral Home in 1920, at 10th and Austin in Wichita Falls; however, in 1924, he

sold his interest and continued operating the original Lunn's location in Olney and another

funeral home in Archer City. Raymond (R.N) Lunn, joined his father in the funeral business in

1926. With the passing of W.N Lunn in 1959, R.N. Lunns son Don Lunn joined his father that

same year. In 1986, Ray (Raymond N. Lunn II) and his wife Valine began operation of Lunn’s

Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Since then the Lunn family has been proud to serve

Wichita Falls once again. In 2013, the family celebrated 100 years of service to the larger North

Texas area. Until his death in 2014, Ray Lunn had been a licensed funeral director since 1966.

His son, Will, followed in his footsteps. Now the fifth generation Cuatro Lunn, and grandson-in-

law Chase Richardson, have joined the business as well. Even with Ray’s passing in 2014, his

wife Valine continues to play a large role in the funeral home’s operation.

Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home is now a part of a company that operates the original Lunn's

Funeral Home in Olney, Texas, the Falls Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wichita Falls

and Seymour Memorial Funeral Home in Seymour, Texas. Early on, the Lunn family had

instilled in the subsequent Lunn generations and its employees, a family philosophy of dignity,

honor, and respect in funeral service. Will Lunn and Chase Richardson are actively involved in

the day to day operation of the four funeral homes, as well as in strategic planning for the future

of the family-owned business. Our professional and caring staff is always available to assist with

guidance and support, whether it is answering questions, handling funeral services for a loved

one, prearranging personal services, or simply speaking with someone concerning issues you've

always wondered about, but didn't feel comfortable asking. At Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home,
